UrbanConcrete Faux Concrete panels are available in two different sizes: a 24” x 48” panel & a 48” x 48” panel.
Are there different thicknesses of UrbanConcrete Faux Concrete panels?
Yes. The 24” x 48” UrbanConcrete panels come in two different thicknesses: a ½” thick panel & a 1” thick panel. The thinner, ½” panels offer a less expensive panel option and the lightest weight option. The ½” panels install using a shiplap install where panels are face-fastened. UrbanConcrete caulking is used to hide the screw heads in this type of install. The thicker, 1” panels have a tongue & groove design making them the easiest install option. Note that the 48” x 48” panels only come in one thickness: a 1” thick panel.
What material are UrbanConcrete panels made from?
UrbanConcrete Faux Concrete panels are made from high density polyurethane.
Are the circles in UrbanConcrete used to add anchors?
They can be the location where screws/nails are placed when installing the panels, however they are strictly ornamental and no actual anchors need to be added. Note that all sizes and thicknesses of UrbanConcrete panels can be ordered with or without the anchor holes and this is denoted as Flat or Circle on the product page.
What kind of screws/nails do you use to install UrbanConcrete panels?
What kind of screws/nails do you use to install UrbanConcrete panels? This depends on the surface that the UrbanConcrete is being mounted to. Finishing nails are the most recommended, as they leave small entrance holes, and are very fast. Wood screws and drywall screws are also common. Screws must penetrate at least 1” to properly secure the product. If using screws, the screwheads get covered with UrbanConcrete caulking.
Do you need to use an adhesive to install UrbanConcrete panels?

Can UrbanConcrete panels be installed outside?
UrbanConcrete panels are designed for interior use, however, if you have an exterior project where you would like to use UrbanConcrete, please contact us to discuss the special order of exterior-rated panels.
What tools are required to install UrbanConcrete?
Installation of UrbanConcrete panels is certainly a DIY project & only basic tools are needed to install. UrbanConcrete panels are easily cut using regular wood working saw blades. Required tools are outlined in the UrbanConcrete Install Sheet.
How are corners finished?
There are two ways to finish the corners. The panels can be mitered for a more continuous look, or the panels can be butt together.
Are UrbanConcrete panels waterproof?
Yes, UrbanConcrete panels are waterproof as well as mold & mildew proof.
Can UrbanConcrete panels be used in a shower?
No, it is not recommended that UrbanConcrete panels be used in a shower.
Are UrbanConcrete panels fireproof?
UrbanConcrete panels are not fireproof. They are fire resistant and have a Class A fire rating.
Can UrbanConcrete panels be used around a fireplace?
UrbanConcrete panels and can be used around some electric & gas fireplaces. The panels have a Class A fire rating. Always check with local building codes and the fireplace manual to ensure proper materials & clearances. In most situations the panels are not suitable for use around wood burning fireplaces.
Can UrbanConcrete panels be installed vertically?
Absolutely!
Can UrbanConcrete panels be used as a kitchen backsplash?
They could be used as a backsplash, however, even though they aren’t porous, grease and oils could definitely sit on top of the panels and therefore the panels could potentially be stained by cooking grease/animal fats/and or other food products. The other thing to consider is the type of stove in the kitchen. If the stove has a flame, the panels are combustible. Likely, going with a ceramic/porcelain tile for a kitchen backsplash would be best.
Do UrbanConcrete panels expand & contract?
There will be slight expansion and contraction on UrbanConcrete panels. The panels are designed to allow for this.
Does the wall need to be reinforced to install UrbanConcrete panels?
Not at all. UrbanConcrete panels weigh in at only 1 lb/sq.ft. so they are extremely lightweight.
Are there any accessory trims available for UrbanConcrete panels?
Yes, there are steel corner trims available in two different finishes: stainless steel & raw steel. These trims can be found on the Wall Theory site.
